Jeremy and Maria's Halloween Wedding

Back in October I packed up all my photography gear and made the drive from New Orleans to Pennsylvania for a few weeks. I spent the month photographing a few weddings and many portrait sessions. On one of my last days in Pennsylvania, I had the honor shooting Jeremy and Maria’s Halloween wedding! I’ve been shooting weddings for about 5 years now and this wedding was one of the most unique and fun weddings I’ve shot to date. A little back story, Jeremy and I used to spend a lot of time at the same skatepark in our teens and Maria’s dad lived a couple doors down from my childhood home. Needless to say, we’ve known each other for many years now. When they bought their house, they started a traditions of throwing super fun Halloween parties every year. Being such fans of Halloween having their wedding on the holiday made complete sense. In this era of Covid-19, their backyard wedding set the stage for a safe and absolutely unique wedding.

Their house is positioned in the perfect place to host the festivities. One side is next to a cornfield, the other is next to an empty lot and behind their house is more cornfield. When they began to explain their plans to me, I was immediately excited to photograph their wedding! They explained that the corn fields are usually harvested a few weeks before Halloween but they talked the farmer into leaving the patch behind their house up for a corn maze/cocktail hour clearing. Incredible.

As you can see from these detail shots, nothing was overlooked. From the screen placed in the yard to project horror movies during cocktail hour to the 13 foot hand made corn stalk scarecrow, it was a sight to see.

Maria’s dress was wonderful. It was such a different take on a wedding gown and very beautiful. The dress had really nice lace details with a long train and custom lace sleeves. Her veil was also very long, black and had great lace details around the edges. Her wedding ring was a family heirloom, always love to see that.

One of their ideas to stay on the Halloween theme, was to have the the groomsmen come in full costume. I absolutely loved idea. Jeremy’s groomsmen were Beetlejuice, Jason, Freddy Krueger, Ash from the Evil Dead and his best man was Michael Myers. And the officiant was one of Jeremy’s closest friends dressed as The Dude from the Big Lebowski. I must say this is one of my favorite parts about the whole day. Everyone was having a lot of fun with the costumes including most of the guests.

The guests fully embraced the Halloween spirit. The costumes were inventive, creative and hilarious. Here are a few of my favorites.

We pretty much lucked out with the weather considering it rained for a couple days before the wedding and the day after. It was totally meant to be. The Dude officiated the wedding beautifully and he totally abides.

Sunset came in a hurry and made the best of the quick setting sun by shooting a bunch of photos in the harvest section of the cornfield. We had a perfect view of the setting sun and there’s no way to tell that there was a whole wedding happening a few yards away!

They had their cake made by my favorite bakery growing up, Easton Baking. Complete fall vibes and and an awesome cake topper. Maria and Jeremy really paid attention to every detail and it shows!

Party Time!

Before leaving for the night I like to take a few portraits of my couples with flash and what not. We had so much to work with at their wedding, here a few of the photos we came up with!
