My favorite thing about photographing weddings is seeing the different ways couples approach their days. Some couples tend to sway more traditional and some couples go completely original. Ashley and Evan made their day express who they are as a couple. It was great to spend two days straight with them, from photographing their welcome party at the historic Antoine’s Restaurant in the French Quarter to shooting their wedding the following day the the House Of Blues NOLA.
Read MoreThe French Quarter in New Orleans feels like its own little world within a city. Some of my favorite times to walk around and practice street photography is just before sunrise. The streets are virtually empty, there’s a reflective sheen coating the streets and sidewalks after the partying a debauchery is washed away from the night before and the way the sunlight makes its way through the neighborhood is pretty incredible.
Read MoreBeing that I never explored much of Louisiana aside from New Orleans I wanted to make a trip somewhere out of town. Being a photographer, I’m always looking for interesting places to visit and document. During our searches, one thing kept popping up and that was plantation tours. Some of these place were really beautiful but being a plantation in the south I knew that beauty came with an ugly history. I was very apprehensive about going to a plantation due to how plantations were built and run off of the backs of slave labor. We decided we would go to Oak Ally Plantation, enjoy the grounds, learn about the history of the place and hope they didn’t create a false narrative about its history.
Read MoreWe’re experiencing an important time in history right now. This week a video surfaced showing a Minneapolis cop kneeling on a black man’s neck until he died. The man begged for his life, screamed that he couldn’t breathe and even yelled for his family in desperation. There were other officers involved who helped hold the man down and did not intervene in this stopping this murder from happening. This man’s name was George Floyd. His senseless murder was seen worldwide and and the lack of response from the governing bodies of Minnesota created an uproar of voices across the nation. Protests ensued. Some became violent and still no action was taken against the offending officers. Some rallies became riots until there was finally action taken against the main officer. He was charged with third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter.
Read MoreLately there has been a world wide pandemic due to Covid-19. Many cities nation wide have shuttered their drinking establishments and entertainment venues. Living as a photographer in New Orleans, I knew I wanted to document the emptiness of the streets. Bourbon Street in the French Quarter of the city is world famous as a place for drinking, partying and general debauchery. It’s typically filled with tourists and party goes nearly every hour of the day. It’s very rare to see the street entirely empty of people. This was the perfect opportunity to head down and photograph this rare occurrence.
Read MoreBefore I made the move down to New Orleans, I had the opportunity to photograph a great engagement session in NYC. I’ve known Matt and Val for a long time now and I was excited when they asked me to be their wedding photographer. Of course we had to do an engagement session since I include them with my all day wedding packages. They weren’t exactly sure where they wanted to go, but after a little back an forth they came up with the awesome idea to have it done at Evil Twin Brewing in NYC. They’re both into craft beers and they thought that Evil Twin Brewery would be perfect.
Read MoreLast week my wife and I made the move down to New Orleans, Louisiana. Being a wedding photographer, it’s going to take a little time to build up my client base in this new much larger city. So as I’m in this transition, I want to becoming more acquainted with the city and it’s people by photographing as much of it as possible. I made it down a week before Fat Tuesday aka Mardi Gras Day

I had a few people ask me if I planned on doing a continuation to my Cautionary Tales series from last year. I was considering not doing it since this October has been very busy. Inevitably, my desire to create took over and I started writing ideas out and started to figure out how I wanted to execute them, no pun intended. For the people that didn’t see last year’s series, this is a horror photo series showcasing distraction and what could happen when you are. With no further delay, I present Cautionary Tales 2.
Read MoreI spent Saturday afternoon in Allentown hanging out at Blues, Brews and BBQ. I’ve been to it years in the past, but this was the first time I spent a significant amount of time there watching various artists perform. My friend Pentley was playing on the stage outside of Queen City BBQ. The Allentown Arts Walk provided a great backdrop for the stage. For the most part, Pentley plays alone, but he was backed by a group of great local musicians which provided a different feel to his set. Here’s a few photos from his performance.
Read MoreLife can be strange sometimes. Peoples’ lives cross in unexpected ways. When we were kids, Pentley Holmes and I shared a bus stop at the half point between our houses. Then he moved to P’burg and I didn't see him for a long time. Around high school, I started to ride BMX and I started to see Pentley around again since he also rode at the time. After a few years, he started music and really immersed himself in playing and learning music. It was a rarity when I would catch him out somewhere. Back when I started photography around 6 years ago, he was one of the first people I did some photos and videos for while he performed in a little basement venue. This past Saturday, I met him at the State Theatre in Easton, PA and shot photos and videos for him in the nicest venue in town. He’s had an awesome journey in music thus far and I thought he’d be a perfect person to talk with.
